Show Notes: “Yippy”

WiPs:
♥ “O1 of O8 socks” in Quaere Fibre yarn.
♥”Lamby’s Sundae Socks” in some of my hand-dye!

Spinning A Yarn:
♥ Finished my Spun Right Round “Glee” batt: ended up with ~130yds to 2oz of fiber, making this chain-plied yarn a light-ish worsted weight.
♥ Almost finished with the singles for my next spin, MoonRover SW Merino top “Rust and Green.”
♥ Next I plan to spin a Southern Cross Fibre top

Stitcher’s Corner:
♥ Storytime Sampler by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery

Enabling:
♥ Spun Right Round Merino Top “Color Play #87”

♥ Lamby Toes will be having an update with all the pink as soon as I can get good photos! Lighting did not cooperate today, so it’s been pushed back until tomorrow when I can play around and get decent pictures.

Episode 102: Yippy

Episode 102: Yippy

Today is a fairly brief show, but I have socks, some spinning, some cross-stitch, and dyed up goodies to show you! There will be a Lamby Toes update, but the lighting did not cooperate to get it up today. Many apologies for that! Full show notes can be found at sewknitpicky.net and please consider joining us in the Knot A Podcast Ravelry group! Thank you for watching, kitten!

Show Notes: “Um Um Um”

FOs:
♥ Ribbed Neck Tube for my daughter made out of Knit Picks Swish and City Tweed HW scraps.

WiPs:
♥ Margo Poncho by Elizabeth Smith ($6 on Ravelry) got a little love this week. I took my time deciding how I wanted to pick up the stitches for the outer ribbing and how much width I wanted to lose from the garment.
♥ “O1 of O8” was also knit on a bit and will likely be slowed down so I can participate in Suburban Stitcher’s February Rainbow A Long.

Spinning A Yarn:
♥ I finished my April 2014 MoonRover club fiber! It finished as a worsted/aran weight 3-ply with 284yds to 5.2oz.
♥ The singles of my spindle-spun Spun Right Round “Glee” batt are resting and awaiting plying.
♥ I’ve prepped my next wheel-spun fiber: it’s another braid of MoonRover!

Stitcher’s Corner:
♥ I have finished the January frame of my “Storytime Sampler” by the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. ($17.95 on Big Cartel)

Let Me Enable You:
♥ January 2015’s MoonRover club braid landed in my mailbox today! We get a different fiber than usual because her supplier was late with the usual blend.
♥ I bought a cute sock cube project bag from Nomadic Yarns.

Episode 101: “Um Um Um”

Episode 101: “Um Um Um”

Today there is quite a bit to talk about, kittens! January is cold, and I’ve been busy, but I still found time to get some knitting, cross stitching, and dyeing for Lamby Toes done. There’s even a little to share in the stash enhancement section too. I finally sat down and talked about the 5 big (but maybe obvious) crafting lessons I learned in 2014 and talk about that near the end of the videocast. Please come join us in the Knot a Podcast Ravelry group, and full show notes can be found on the blog: sewknitpicky.net. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me today!

Show Notes: “January be Trollin'”
♥ Today I’m wearing my heavily modified Shalom cardigan that I knit back in February 2010 during the winter Ravelympics. Please click the link to go to my ravelry project page and see the details!

WiPs:
♥ Margo Poncho by Elizabeth Smith. This is considerably too wide, so I will be getting creative to fix this in the coming week! I should have gone with my instinct to choose sizing like I would a sweater rather than fear it would be too close fitting.

♥ 2015 Personal Sock Club: O1 of O8. I finally cast on my Quaere Fibre sock yarn in “Askew.” I realized that my initial impression and disappointment when I received this were spot on. This sale was from over 15 months ago, so I’m not looking for any kind of “fix.” I’m going to keep knitting these and chalk it up as a lesson in being more assertive and taking care of issues right away rather than waiting and hoping I will feel better about it later.

Spinning A Yarn:
♥ I finished my Spun Right Round BFL “Parakeet” 2-ply. It came in at 199.5yds to 3.8oz. It’s a pretty solid worsted weight which is not what I was aiming for.
♥ I continued work on my Spun Right Round “Glee” batt with my AaronMakesStuff spindles. It’s coming along nicely when I have time to work on it.
♥ My current wheel project is my April 2014 MoonRover Riber Club braid. I’m super nervous about how this one will turn out. I may have made clown barf on accident. We shall see.

Let Me Enable You:
♥ Hello Yarn December 2014 club braid has arrived!
♥ I bought another AaronMakesStuff spindle.
♥ I showed some skeins I’ve been dyeing up for Lamby Toes and hope to have in the shop before the weekend is over.

Episode 100: January be Trollin’

Episode 100: January be Trollin’

It’s a lovely cold Thursday, kittens! I had to rerecord because my lighting moved too quickly yesterday and cause some issues. Today I have some WIPs to show you, quite a lot of spinning, I get a bit personal with my doubts about two of my projects, and I have a couple of lovelies to show you including what I’ve been dyeing up for Lamby Toes! Thank you for sharing some of your time with me today! Show notes can be found at the blog, sewknitpicky.net.

Show Notes: “And the Winners are….”

Happy New Year, kittens! Today’s episode opened with the Fall Into Shawls prize draw. The winners are: Ravelry Downloadable pattern/s up to $10 – #30 TheStickyStitch, a skein of Lamby Toes yarn – #25 jamiewalcott, and the shawl size project bag – #55 sarahjane101. If you won, please PM Wit on Ravelry to claim your prize and provide your mailing address if it applies. Congratulations, everyone! You all made amazing projects, and I’m hoping to see you all for the third installment of Sock it to Summer! It makes my heart swell to have so much enthusiasm and participation in my KALs. I couldn’t have them without all of you! ♥

FOs:
Waiting for Winter Mittens by Susan B. Anderson ($4) knit in some sport-ish weight 2-ply Spun Right Round Polwarth “Lady Thunder.”

WiPs:
Margo Poncho by Elizabeth Smith ($6) in Cascade EcoWool #8049 “Dark Ash.” I’m rounding the halfway mark on this knit.

Spinning A Yarn:
♥ Spun Right Round 2oz batt “Glee” on my AaronMakesStuff 1.05oz rainbow pencil spindle
♥ SRR BFL combed top “Parakeet” on my Vespera
♥ Lots of spinning to come in the next few weeks.

Stitcher’s Corner:
♥ Once Upon A Time Sampler by Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery – January block. This one is giving me some trouble, but I have sorted it out and hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here on out.
♥ Storytime Sampler clue #1 goes live next Wednesday!

♥ Marie asked me a couple of questions regarding socks that I answered this week. The first was about sock gauge, and the second was about laundering. I forgot to mention in this section that commercial detergents are more likely to felt your wool in general, but Tide is one of the worst offenders. Please do not use it on woolen objects unless felting is your objective!

♥ On New Year’s Eve I spent a couple of hours getting real about my fiber stash. I put everything on my bed, sorted it by time acquired and club vs. other purchases, and then I documented it all and tallied it up: I have 365.0 oz of fiber currently in stash. That’s 22.8 pounds…or a toddler! If I make the minimum of my 2015 goal, I should have it down to about 20 pounds this time next year.

Episode 99: And the Winners are….

Episode 99: And the Winners are….

Today is a pretty short episode. The winners for Fall Into Shawls have been drawn; make sure to watch if you played along and please PM me on Ravelry if you won! I also have a small FO, a larger WIP, a fair amount of spinning, and some cross stitch to share with you all! I have been asked some questions about my socks recently that I answered, and I finish off talking about the results of my New Year’s Eve fiber documentation exercise.
