Show Notes: Episode 140.5

In today’s video I talk about my crafting year in 2015 and my plans for 2016. If you’re not interested in watching the video, please read the notes below to see what I talked about. πŸ™‚

β™₯ In 2015 I finished: 2 sweaters, 7 stuffies, 2 cowls, 1 pair of wristwarmers, 7 pairs of socks, 1 shawl, 2 shawlettes, and 3 hats. I put in work on another shawl which is currently hibernating and my daughter’s blanket. I have one scrap blanket that saw no love in 2015.

β™₯ I did not do well on 2015’s crafting goals. Most I partially accomplished, so I feel pretty good about that.

β™₯ In 2016 I hope to:
β†’ Spin 144oz out of my fiber stash. This is 12 oz (3 braids) per month on average. I will be participating in TdF and Spinzilla again this year.
β†’ Maintain my fiber club membership at 1 for now. Avoid stashing additional fiber this year so I can see a reduction.
β†’ Knit 3 sweaters out of stash.
β†’ Knit 8 pairs of socks from stash.
β†’ Knit 2 large shawls from stash.
β†’ Sew several pieces of wearable clothing to work towards my handmade wardrobe.
β†’ Be flexible and have fun! Try to find balance.

Episode 140.5: 2015 Wrap-Up

Happy New Year, kittens! Today’s recording is not a regular podcast episode: there’s no crafting or Lamby content in it. I talk about my crafting year in 2015, how I did on my 2015 resolutions, and talk about my 2016 goals. Thank you for taking the time to visit with me today! I would love to hear about your 2016 crafting plans if you want to leave me a comment on the blog, YouTube, or in the Knot A Podcast Ravelry group!

2015 Stashdown: Wrap-Up

2015Stashdown

So 2015 has come to a close, and the numbers are in: I’m red all around. On average I stashed twice as much as I managed to work out of my stashes.

*Sigh*

I could spend time re-explaining how this happened, but if you read the previous postings about my Stashdown efforts this year you’ll understand why the yarn number was bound to be red no matter what I did. It’s the growing pains of finally counting handspun in and out of stash, and I can live with that. I did stash a little yarn, but it was quite minimal, and I would hazard a guess that at most, it was 1/3 of the amount in. The fiber number hurts a little, however. I knew I was going to be red this year, but I really wasn’t expecting to increase my stash by 120.2 oz, or 7.5 pounds. My stash grew in size from a young toddler and added a newborn to it! I am now living with a 2-3 year old child’s amount of fiber, and it’s starting to burst from the seams. Ouch.

I plan to continue with my efforts and shake this year off. Better things in 2016!

2015 was a whirlwind, kittens. It seems like everyone in my social circles had a year of rather extreme ups and downs. I can’t say that I’m sad to see it go, and I hope that 2016 is full of better things for us all!

I thought I knit more in December–it sure felt like I did. I’m happy with what I managed to finish and started working on some smaller items after the craziness of Handspun/Handknit Giftmas was over. Comparing to my numbers from last year, my knitting productivity has been way down. (It’s something like a 40% reduction, just looking at it quickly and off the top of my head.) I think that Lamby had a lot to do with that this year. I’ve had a difficult time trying to balance work with leisure, and that’s definitely something I will work on in the coming year! Now, onto better things and fresh projects!

Happy 2016!
