September has come and gone. And while much of the northern hemisphere is starting to cool and settle into autumn, my area of the US was still hot as blazes until a couple days ago. We’ve finally reached Pleasant Summer Temperatures so it’s very warm, but not unbearably so. The very early mornings are chilly enough to maybe need a sweatshirt, but it’s not handknits weather by a long shot.

I managed to spend a little time crafting this month—my knitting desire was very sporadic and mostly MIA all month. I worked on another garter strip for the blanket I mentioned last month, which is a distraction from other knitting I could do. But if I’m really honest, it’s about as complicated of a knit as my brain can handle at the moment. It’s nice to see these older handspun yarns go down in amount or get fully used up as I work. It will clear a nice amount of room and be one less thing I’ll consider destashing to make my craft stash fit in the area I’ve assigned to it.

Anywho.

This year, I’ve decided to stick with the same knitting goal I’ve had since this decade started: knit something every month. That’s it. Yes. Knitting happened.

Well, kittens. Here it is: September. The theoretical start of the fall here in the US.

I managed to spend some time crafting this month, working on garter strips with older handspun yarns to make a stripey blanket down the road. It’s been remarkably engaging and soothing. I’ve really enjoyed using up so many single bump skeins of yarn and partials from older projects.

This year, I’ve decided to stick with the same knitting goal I’ve had since this decade started: knit something every month. That’s it. Yup, sure did.

…I did not expect to take 3 months before updating my blog again. Overseas moves are wild, I tell ya.

I spent most of my time not crafting. No desire or time in May. Did a little in June but had no access to a scale to weigh. Finally did some work in July and was able to mostly track—but I am estimating on my current project because it’s old handspun that I have no access to the information in regards to it. The best I can do, you know? Hopefully I will continue to knit into the autumn even though cooler weather will not grace us with its presence for at least another 4 months.

…I almost didn’t bother to count that yardage for this month.

I spent most of my month spinning some lovely sock yarn for my spouse, knit a little and had to rip it, then suddenly felt the need to pick up a hibernating cross stitch project. What can you do? I feel the need to follow where my crafting whims take me right now.
